    There are presented main results of compact research of rolling contact defects initiation in this contribution. Practical experiences of a wheel set producer introduce own experimental study of a line rolling/sliding contact case. On the basis of test conditions, simulation by FEM has been performed. As results, AbdelKarim-Ohno plasticity model used in rolling contact simulations gives very good prediction of shear strain accumulation and the proposed computational strategy can be used for fatigue lifeprediction of rolling contact crack initiation caused by low-cycle fatigue or ratcheting failure.
