Original language description
This article is focused on tool life tests of indexable ceramic cutting inserts at slide turning - cast iron 25P. This material is used as cylinder sleeves in the automotive engines. The main aim was to determine the number of machined inserts and tool life of cutting tools ? at given cutting parameters. We used longitudinal turning on the turning lathe, CMM Sliven. Five types of cutting inserts were tested in total (labeled: D470_1, H_D210_1, T_1, W_1, Ti) from Saint Gobain Advanced Ceramics Ltd., Turnov, which was the contracting authority. Criterion of tool wear was set at VBBmax = 0,6 mm (in accordance with ISO 3685 norm) and after every 5th machined workpiece was recorded the conditions of cutting edge.
