The experience with flue-gas desulphurization by ammonium
Original language description
Desulphurization by ammonium is an alternative to limestone method for desulphurization of flue gas. We have experimentally verified that the oxidation reaction can be sufficiently accelerated with ferric oxide, which act as an oxygen transmitter. The reaction must proceed at an equimolar ratio of SO2/NH3. The solution pH is lower than 4. It has been experimentally proven that the addition of ammonium can decrease the content of SO2 from 900 -1000 mg/Nm3 (at 4 ? 5% vol. content of oxygen in fuel gas) tothe value below 100 mg SO2/Nm3. HCl, HF and NO2 will be eliminated at the same time. The concentration of ammonium salts in fuel gas has not exceeded 10 mg NH3/Nm3.
