    The paper deals with analysis of a cantilever beam equipped by the active vibration control system. The cantilever beam as a continuum is approximated by a lumped-parameter system. The matrices of mass and stiffness are computed and corresponding modal parameters are evaluated. The lumped-parameter model enables derive the transfer functions relating forces to displacements allow to determine the appropriate controller type and to determine under what conditions the system will wor
