MATHEMATICAL MODELLING OF LOW-TEMPERATURE COAL STOCKPILES IN REAL TERRAIN
Original language description
Coal stockpiles present a high risk with regard to possibility of spontaneous combustion and evolution of harmful substances into the surrounding environment. This article deals with the issue of defining the mathematical model of the low-temperature oxidation of coal in application to coal stockpile in a real terrain. The mathematical model defines a single-phase model with a porous zone such as coal, where oxygen consumption, production of gas fumes and heat are treated as source terms in a transportequation. The speed constant is defined by the Arrhenius expression. Parameters of the Arrhenius equation (activation energy and pre-exponential factor) are derived from experimental measurements. The numerical calculation by finite volume method was performed using the ANSYS FLUENT 12 software application.
