The finite elements analysis (FEA) can solve complete thermal analysis by using multi-physic simulation software. These analyses can serve to sizing and design the equipment for correct operation. This paper deals with thermal analysis of water cooling system for frequency converter. The main attention is given to the ability of heat transfer by water cooling. The 3D model of heat sink, which corresponds with real heat sink, was created. This model was created in Autocad Invertor and then loaded by multi-physic program. The model was simulated at constant power dissipation of steady ambient temperature and stabilized flow of cooling water. Experimental modification of heat sink was performed on the basis of simulation results. To improve thermal properties, experimental 3D models with added material were created.
