This contribution deals with the development of coal mining industry in the Czech Republic after the year 1989. The hard coal and as well as brown coal mining and usage in the Czech Republic is shortly characterized here. The organizational aspect of mining damping process and mining capacity liquidation are described here, the variants of mining damping realization with their advantages and disadvantages are mentioned. The attention is paid to the economic demands of the mining activity damping and ways of their decrease.
