This contribution deals with damping of underground coal mines in the Ostrava-Karvina district in the Czech Republic. It gives facts concerning the organisational aspects connected with this damping and deals with details of economic problems of mining activity damping. The special attention is paid to cutting down the claims for appropriation from the state budget allotted to mining activity damping.
