Environmental impact of the oil sands industry in Alberta, Canada
Original language description
The oil sands deposits of Canada represent one of the few reliable, long-term sources of oil supply. The oil sands symbolize the world?s third largest proven reserves of oil which are located in three major areas in northeast province Alberta. The environmental impacts of oil sands industry is strongly growing issue for many kinds of research studies and projects focussed particularly on the land disturbance, air emissions, water use, greenhouse gas emissions, and tailings production. On this paper we bring a general view on these environmental problems caused by the oil sands mining extraction and we refer to the land reclamation possibilities.
