SEASONAL VARIATIONS OF POLYCYCLIC AROMATIC HYDROCARBONS (PAHs) IN THE AIR OF MORAVIAN-SILESIAN REGION, CZECH REPUBLIC

  • Original language description

Concentrations of 18 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) were monitored during winter and summer seasons at 40 selected locations in the Moravian-Silesian Region, Czech Republic. It was found that the concentrations of PAHs were higher during winterthan in summer, with an average difference of 330.02 ng/m3. The average concentration of PAHs in all monitored sites during winter season was 362.18 ng/m3, whereas this concentration during the summer was 32.16 ng/m3. The highest average concentrations of 18 PAHs were detected in areas affected by predominant industrial activity and wind direction, and were 575.82 ng/m3 and 43.39 ng/m3 during winter and summer season, respectively.
