Synthesis and Properties of Lamellar Aggregates of Globular Fullerene Nano-Aggregates
Original language description
This paper describes an alternative of microemulsion synthesis of globular nC60 nano-aggregates (n aggregated molecules of C60 with a total outer diameter of about 26 nm), which exhibit high colloidal stability in water without emulsifying surfactant additives. In the successive part of the technological process the dispersion was solidified by freezing and subjected to controlled sublimation under carefully selected conditions in a vacuum sublimation chamber. Applying the specific conditions during thevacuum freeze-drying we achieved the formation of large lamellar nC60 nanostructured aggregates at the sublimation interface. An arrangement of such self-assembled nanoparticles in volume is very tight and the material exhibits a high specific surface area value and other unusual physical properties.
