  • Original language description

Concentration of black carbon (BC) in PM2.5 was measured continuously at an urban site in Ostrava (the Czech Republic, Moravian-Silesian Region) during the period from August 2014 to December 2014. The monthly average BC concentrations ranged from 1.32 to 6.77 ?g/m3 and the average of PM2.5 concentrations varied from 19.7 to 65 ?g/m3. The BC mass concentration formed 8.33 % of the total PM2.5 mass, with a magnitude from 1.6 % to 21.90 %. The BC concentrations displayed significant temporal changes. Daily average mass concentrations of BC reached the level of 3.98 ?g/m3, whereas the average morning concentration was 3.69 ?g/m3 and evening 4.48 ?g/m3. It was found that BC does not only have significant seasonal variations, with the highest concentrationsin the winter season, but also diurnal variations with two peaks formed by morning and evening increased values. The influence of selected meteorological parameters on the BC concentrations was observed. The significant Spearman correlat
