    The possibility of utilization of separated municipal waste as solid alternative fuel

    In the Czech Republic the percentage content of energy utilizable municipal waste was only 12 %. Energy utilization of separated municipal waste is influenced by the requirements for quality of solid alternative fuels according the standard CSN EN 15359.The separated municipal waste produced in the town of Ostrava was used for the study. The content of combustible component in the separated municipal waste was the same in the summer and autumn - 68 %, non-combustible proportion represented 32 %. Biologically degradable waste contained more paper and less food leftovers in the summer months, while during the autumn months, the paper content decreased and the content of leftovers increased. The higher heating value for dry matter of a sample from the autumn period is only by 1MJ/kg higher than that from the summer period (14.17 MJ/kg).
