Use of new isolates of Pseudomonas bacteria in toxicity reduction of industrial waste
Original language description
The contribution focuses on a biotechnological application of new bacterial isolates of Pseudomonas in the removal of anthropogenic contaminants. Used were samples of flotation sludge from the industrial processes of coal preparation to verify the bacteria's capacity to reduce the organic and inorganic toxicity. The results show the bioremediation activity of both the observed strains. In the removal of arsenic and mercury we observed a higher efficiency in the bacterial strain P. chlororaphis ZK-1, while the second strain, P. monteilii LA-11, was more efficient with organic pollutants. The acquired results are related to the character of pollution occurring in the site of origin of both the strains as, due to the adaptation pressure related to the toxic substances, the bacteria obtained genetic preconditions for successful bioremediation processes.
