    The aim of this work was to study the behaviour of nickel with nickel silicides at long-time temperature annealing (72 hours at the temperatures 900 °C and 1000 °C). Diffusion joints of nickel with nickel silicides (25, 33 and 39 at. % Si) were created for this purpose by means of the resistance and electron beam welding. In the course of this study, procedures for determination of diffusion characteristics from the concentration profiles measured by an X-ray micro-analyser after the Si diffusion in theNi-Si system were described. It considers the Matano-Boltzmann method and the Wagner relation application. Furthermore, newly discovered methods proceeding from the thermal potential application in the solution of the diffusion equation with the movinginterface boundary are described.
