Microstructure, Hydrogen Embrittlement and Failures of Type A516 and Type VStE500 Steel
Original language description
The microstructure affects markedly the behaviour of steel in hydrogen environment. The inclusions and non-hardening structural components increase the susceptibility to hydrogen embrittlement. One of demostration of hydrogen embrittlement is if the fisheyes appear on fracture area. The nucleation sites of these defects are the non-metallic inclusions. In this paper, the results of the qualitative and quantitative analysis of non-metallic inclusions are compared with qualitative and quantitative analysis of fish eyes on fracture area in three rolling directions of both types of steels.
