Quantitative description of the "fish eye" type hydrogen embrittlement in steels for power industry

  • Original language description

?Fish eyes? are special defects, which can be observed on fracture surface, provoked by increased hydrogen content in steels. These defects represent more or less circular areas of quasiclivage fracture initiated on non-metallic inclusions. The paper presents results of studies concerning the mechanical and fractographic investigations of S500Q and A516Gr.70 steels after hydrogen charging. The obtained results permitted to describe in details hydrogen embrittlement by ?fish eye? formation in the studiedsteels.
