Thermal behavior of alkali activated granulated blast furnace slag composites

  • Original language description

The contribution presents the results of an investigation of the thermal behavior of alkali-activated granulated blast furnace slag composites. The composites were prepared from the mixtures of granulated blast furnace slag and expanded perlite (0, 1, 2.5, and 5 wt.%) or ground perlite (0, 0.5, and 5 wt.%) activated with sodium silicate (SM=2.0). The samples were tested at ambient and elevated temperature (up to 1000°C). Thermal stability and a creation of new phases were characterized by XRD analysis,SEM, and the volume density change. The aim was to evaluate the suitability of expanded perlite as a lightweight aggregate used in alkali activated cements. The expanded perlite was chosen on the basis of its suitable chemical composition and amorphous state needed for the successful alkali activation. It can be seen, from the results, that expanded perlite is a suitable lightweight aggregated for the preparation of lightweight alkali activated slag cements with perlite particles embedde

Tepelné vlastnosti alkalicky aktivovaných kompozitů z granulované vysokopecní strusky
