Determination of distribution coefficients of components in ternary systems upon equilibrium and non-equilibrium crystallization
Original language description
Equilibrium data presented in the form of liquidus, solidus, and solvus projections are used often to study the solidification sequences. In order to realize the fullest use of such projections, information on the solid state composition on completion ofthe solidification of a given system is also required. A theory for the simulation and software for processing of ternary systems by the help of our own MatLab computer program based on experimental data has been elaborated. The second-degree (parabolic) polynomial was selected for the simulation of ideal, quasi-ideal, eutectic, and peritectic ternary systems. Results of the calculations are: a tabular or graphical output that enables the complete displaying of ternary diagrams in the form of isothermal and vertical sections, the 3-D projection of liquidus, solidus and solvus surfaces, the mapping of tie-lines and/or tie-triangles for relevant alloys upon equilibrium or non-equilibrium crystallization, the calculation of distribution (
