Modelling of ternary systems
Original language description
The ternary system composition forms the basis and the height represents the temperature of phase transformations of alloys. This system is illustrated by an equilateral concentration triangle in which five variables are included. The pressure p = 0.1 MPa is considered for ternary metallic systems. In ternary systems equilibrium points are found on the surfaces of liquidus, solidus or solvus. Horizontal sections are called isothermal and vertical ones poly-thermal. From classical projections of surfacesof liquidus, solidus or solvus it is not possible either to determine proportions of phases after solidification completion in any point of the ternary system or to obtain the values of distribution coefficients. That is why a program for simulating andmodelling of ternary systems and the related calculation of phase proportions in the course of solidification and the calculation of values of distribution coefficients in dependence on temperature is being developed.
