Acicular ferrite and bainite fractal response
Original language description
The work deals with acicular ferrite (AF) and upper bainite (B) relations. Both austenite decomposition products are practically nucleated at the same temperature interval by displacive mechanism, only the formation positions are different. The AF comesinto existence at the specific particles intragranularly, while the B is intergranularly nucleated at the austenite grains. This leads to high strength properties of both products, however different toughness levels. The B impact toughness is unbalancedand reaches lower levels unlike the AF. The differences can be observed in fractal dimensions, too. The higher is the fractal dimension the more cleavage fracture can be awaited. This was also demonstrated in case of both austenite decomposition products. In the area of ductile fracture the determined fractal dimensions differences are small.
