Assessment of influence of structural parameters on mechanical characteristics of directional hypo-stoichiometric Ni3Al based alloys
Original language description
Samples of Ni3Al based alloys with hypo-stoichiometric composition, i.e. 23 and 22 at.% of aluminium were used for testing of selected mechanical properties. The samples were not alloyed by any impure elements. They were first cast into the shape of bars, which were then crystallised by Bridgman?s method. The samples were inserted into corundum tubes with a specified apex angle. Short tensile bars were prepared by lathe-turning with length of 55 mm and diameter of central part of the bar 5 mm. These samples show unusually high conventional values of ductility till ultimate strength, while values of strength limit were partly reduced in the samples with 22 at. % of aluminium. All the samples prepared in this manner had orientated structure, which was formed by the phase Ni3Al, but they contain also two-phase areas formed by solidified solution of nickel (?) and Ni3Al (??), so called network structure ?/??.
