Possibilities of influencing the structure of intermetallic Ni3Al based alloys by conditions of directional solidification.

  • Original language description

The paper makes an evaluation of structures of samples of intermetallic Ni3Al based alloys formed at various conditions of directional solidification. Samples of Ni3Al based alloys with various chemical composition, i.e. within the range from 22 to 25 at.% of Al, were used for determination of influence of the chosen conditions on structure of alloys. Directional solidification was realised in a two-zone crystallisation furnace. The samples were crystallised by Bridgman´s method. Stoichiometric alloys prepared in this manner had a directional structure formed by the phase Ni3Al (y´), while hypo-stoichiometric alloys were multi-phase. Mostly two-phase structures formed by solid solution of nickel (y) and Ni3Al (y´), by so called network y/y´, have occurred here and their share formed up to 99 % for lower rates of directional solidification. Precipitated y´ particles with very small dimensions can be in y channels. Areas of Ni3Al (y´) are present here in much smaller extent. Evaluation o
