Structural and phase analysis of Ni-Al-B based alloys
Original language description
This paper presents an analysis of chemical and phase composition of Ni3Al based alloys alloyed by boron. Foundry alloy was alloyed by boron and its nominal composition was Ni-22Al-0.24B and Ni-22Al-1B at. %. Foundry alloy was prepared by method of vacuum induction casting; it was melted in a corundum crucible and cast into a graphite mould. The rods manufactured in this way were directionally solidified (DS) by Bridgman?s method in corundum tubes with a specific angle. Directional solidification was realised in a two-zone crystallisation furnace. Rate of directional solidification (rDS) was 20, 50 and 70 mm/h. Chemical composition was determined by method of optical emission spectrometry. Structure of alloys was studied by optical and electron microscopy. Structure of the alloys is formed mainly by the phase Ni3Al and by solid solution of nickel. The phase Ni3Al and solid solution of nickel form in the alloys of this type the so called network structure. Determination of boron in allo
