Mechanical properties of the C-Mn steel cooled by various rates from the finishing rolling temperature
Original language description
Three pieces of the CC (continually cast) row slab of the C-Mn steel were laboratory rolled to strips. The finishing rolling temperature was realized in suppressed recrystallization area (under the Ar3 temperature). Material was subsequently cooled to the temperature of 500°C either by 7 degree C.s-1 or 12 degree C.s-1 or 14 degree C.s-1. The slowest cooling rate led to the slightly coarser microstructure and also to lowest acicular ferrite (AF) volume fraction in comparison with the fastest cooling rate. These facts were reason of differences in mechanical properties. The CC material in as-cast state was also used for a demonstration of positive influence of the AF on resistance against cleavage crack formation. The row slab matrix showed 68 % of theAF.
