Influence of Two Different Finishing Rolling Conditions on Fracture Toughness of Steel Plate
Original language description
One steel plate (19 mm in thickness) was rolled under two various conditions. For two manufactured final materials marked as A and AF fracture toughness parameters under intermediate conditions of loading rate were determined. Material A was conventionally rolled under working conditions with the finishing rolling temperature on the level of 698°C with subsequent cooling on the air. Ferrite-pearlite matrix with discontinuous fine pearlite bands formed the final microstructure. The second material AF wasmade from material A and its consequent laboratory simulation of thermo-mechanical control process (TMCP) including accelerated controlled cooling (ACC) at the rate of 19°C.s-1 between the temperatures of 810°C and 500°C to eliminated the harmful banding. The difference in transition temperature of both materials was 31°C. Notch toughness results served for mathematical calculation of fracture toughness values.
