Preparation of TiAl-Nb based alloys
Original language description
The alloys of Ti-45Al-10Nb and Ti-40Al-15Nb prepared by plasma melting were studied. The microstructure of the specimens was observed by light and scanning electron microscopes, the microhardness measurement and phase microanalysis were performed. Afterplasma melting as well as after subsequent annealing at 1100°C and water quenching, the two-phase lamellar microstructure of both alloys consisted of g(45 at.% Al) and a2(41 at.% Al) phases. The values of microhardness after plasma melting reached 520 HVand 526 and after annealing decreased to 406 HV and 502 HV for Ti-45Al-10Nb and Ti-40Al-15Nb, respectively.
