Thermomechanical Characteristics of Commercially Used Magnesium Alloys of Mg-Al-Zn type
Original language description
The work presents results of analysis microstructure and mechanical properties of magnesium alloys AZ91 in states F, T, and AM60 in state F. Specimens were produced by gravitation casting technology into the sand and cast-iron mould. Relation between different ways of treatment of the mentioned Mg alloys was investigated. The results of mechanical properties were compared to tested alloys at room temperature and increased temperatures. Research was focused on commercially used alloys and Mg alloys improved by Explat ltd. company, division Foundry of Magnesium Alloys. Magnesium alloys AZ91 ON and AZ91 Be were studied in molten state and after heat treatment T4. Improvement of mechanical properties of cast structures of selected alloys was achieved by heat treatment. Decrease of the strength depending on the increase of temperature was expected and also verified. Different properties of the Mg alloys in various states of treatment were confirmed by hardness tests.
