Using GIS and mathematical modelling for air quality management
Original language description
To perform effective air quality management, an active and complex decision support system is needed. The decision support system has to be able asses air pollution situation in long term, identify sources of excessive air pollution, effectively manage pollution load reductions, as well as be able to promptly respond to administration requirements. In the other hand it has to respect production increases and economic development of region. Such system was developed in The Department of environmental protection in industry at the Technical University of Ostrava by bringing together GIS, mathematical modelling and supercomputers. Nowadays the system is applied to manage the air quality in Olomouc city.
