    This article presents the results of laboratory experiments which were focused on the possibility of using microwaves in pig iron production. Initially, basic theoretical aspects and properties of microwave radiation are discussed. The second part of article presents results of laboratory experiments, which were focused on iron oxides reduction in microwave field.
