Modeling and control of continuous casting processes of steel based on virtual software environments as Distributed Parameter Systems
Original language description
Continuous casting is one of the sophisticated technologies of casting. During the systematic improvement of this technology over time all results of technical disciplines have been exploited. Nowadays the governing science field offering advancement tocontinous casting is mathematical modeling based on the numerical solution of nonlinear partial differential equations, for example in the virtual software environment ProCAST. For the solution of control problems of continuous casting processes described by partial differential equations as distributed parameter systems, the virtual software environment DPS Blockset for MATLAB & Simulink is readily available for the engineering community. For the demonstration of these possibilities, certain results ofmodeling and control of secondary cooling zone in continuous casting of steel will be presented, based on the virtual software environments ProCAST and DPS Blockset for MATLAB & Simulink.
