Modelling and control of continuous casting processes as Distributed Parameter Systems.
Original language description
Processes of continuous casting are mathematically described by models based on non-linear partial differential equations. Nowadays, these equations are being solved numerically by various commercial software products. In systems and control theory, dynamical systems described by partial differential equations are considered as distributed parameters systems. The main objective of this paper is to present some new possibilities for engineering technology to control the continuous casting processes as distributed parameter systems. For this purpose, numerical model of continuous casting process was build up at Železiarne Podbrezová, a.s., using the virtual casting environment ProCAST. Dynamical analysis and control synthesis were realized in MATLAB & Simulink software, utilizing the Distributed Parameter Systems Blockset for MATLAB & Simulink.
