Gaseous Products of Friction Processes in Automotive Brake Systems
Original language description
The aim was to monitor the formation of gaseous products of frictional processes in automotive brake systems. Tests were performed with two types of brake linings from ordinary production. Samples of gases emitted during the friction were removed from the equipment for testing the brake linings. Samples were analysed by gas chromatography with flame ionization detector. The obtained results were compared with the results of analyses of the gaseous products of thermal decomposition of samples of brake linings at defined temperatures in the tube furnace. The analysis of the gaseous products of thermal decomposition was also performed with a flow analyser for the determination of organic substances, CO2, CO, SO2 and NOx. Results proved creating of CO2 especially. In addition, there were found lower concentrations of CO, SO2, NOx and light hydrocarbons. As mentioned above, there were found light hydrocarbons (C1 to C4) and also a relatively high concentration of benzene. The amount of rele
