    SIMULATION OF POROUS TITANIUM STRESS-STRAIN BEHAVIOUR UNDER THE TENSILE LOAD

    This paper deals with FEM simulations of the porous titanium matrix stress-strain fields achieved during the tensile load for different porosities and pores diameters. Moreover, simulations results are compared with those achieved for cast titanium. Foursemi-empirical equations were used for porous titanium elastic modulus prediction. Three of them, Phani-Niyogi, Coble-Kingery and Maiti relations were in good agreement with experimental data. Optimal material used in traumatology should exhibit good strength, fatigue and corrosion resistance and also good bone cells adhesion and osteointegration with limited risk of the shielding effect. The idea of the titanium implants with gradient porosity is also presented.
