The contribution has been focused on issues of modelling the mechanisms of defaults in various industrial areas. The aim is to propose and examine methods for establishing of parameters shape of Weibull distribution of probability random quantity for different malfunction mechanisms with the use of genetic algorithms and to present the given examples from industrial practice. It will be feasible to form diagnosis about current technical condition of objects or their prognosis on the basis of newly-emerged models of individual default mechanisms
