The use of DTA and HT-LSCM methods to more accurate determination of solidus temperature of Fe-C-Cr based systems

  • Original language description

Three alloys based on Fe-C-Cr and three alloys based on Fe-C-Cr-Ni containing carbon between 0.318 and 0.410 wt. %, chromium and nickel between of 0.001 - 4.990 wt. % were studied. Temperatures of phase transformations were investigated in the high-temperature region. Original temperatures of solidus were determined and clarified for all six specific alloys. Phase transition temperatures were experimentally obtained using Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA) and device Setaram Setsys 18TM. Moreover, the start of melting of alloys was investigated using the High-Temperature Laser Scanning Confocal Microscopy (HT-LSCM - VL2000DX from Lasertec) and a high-temperature furnace (SVF17-SP from Yonekura). All measurements were performed at a heating rate of 10 oC/min. Experimental data were compared and discussed with calculation results using SW IDS and Thermo-Calc operating with commercially available thermodynamic database TCFE8 (Thermo-Calc Fe-based alloys) database.
