The author points out to the consequences of globalization and integration processes imposing new requirements upon transport. These new requirements for transport will necessitate changes in the transportation division of labour and thus a fast growth of some types of transport only. This, on one hand, causes congestion of particular transport infrastructure, and a fast growth of the kinds of transport having a considerable impact on the environment on the other hand. At present, this will not be acceptable in a long-term horizon
