Original language description
The question of EU competitiveness is usually associated with the problems of economic, social and territorial cohesion. In last few years, the topics about measuring and evaluation of competitiveness stand in the front of economic research. The problemis mentioned in the lack of a main stream approach of competitiveness measuring and evaluation. The aim of the paper is to present an overview of the most used theoretical approaches on cohesion and competitiveness and to analyse the European StatisticalOffice data base leading to the identification of convenient indicators for recognizing the level of EU cohesion and competitiveness across EU Member States and regions. Evaluation of competitiveness and cohesion should be measured through complex of economic, social and environmental criteria that can identify imbalance areas that cause main disparities.
