Verification of the Linder Hypothesis of the Foreign Trade Between the US and EU
Original language description
The basic assumption of the Linder hypothesis is that the countries with similar level of the income will trade more than countries with dissimilar level of the income. On the contrary, the Hecksher-Ohlin theory of the international trade is based on theidea that countries with dissimilar level of the income will trade more than countries with similar level. Using the gravity model cross-section data this paper determines that foreign trade exchange of goods between the United States of America and theEuropean Union countries is consistent with the Linder hypothesis.
