Practicing of dimensional modeling to solve business intelligence applications is most often performed on the selected relational DBMS, which can be a problem for students of economics at the Faculty of Economics, because a deeper knowledge of the DBMS is assumed. The basic software tool of economists is still Microsoft Excel. This article should demonstate that can also Microsoft Excel be meaningfully used for dimensional modeling to solve business intelligence applications.
