Determinants of ICT contribution to economic growth
Original language description
It has been proven in many studies that information and communication technologies (ICT) have positive impact on economic growth and labour productivity, but this impact is different across years and also countries. The goal of this paper is to identifyfactors affecting the contribution of ICT to economic growth in 22 EU countries for the time period 2002-2012. For this purpose the panel data model with period fixed effects was estimated using panel least squares method. The estimated model confirmed the hypotheses that education, openness of economy and institutional quality positively influence ICT contribution to economic growth while the impact of income level is negative due to convergence effect. The obtained results of the study are comparablewith similar empirical study (Khuong Vu, 2005).
