Removing Toxic Ions with Help of TiO2 Composite Nanomaterial

  • Original language description

The presented article is a preliminary study and it is focused on the possibility of using kaolinite, composite of kaolinite/TiO2 and TiO2 particles for removal of toxic ions from aqueous solutions. The selected toxic ions were lead, zinc, copper, cadmium or chromium ion. The effect of various parameters was investigated, such as pH, conductivity, the concentration of toxic ions in solution and the contact time of adsorbate with sorbent to the adsorption process. The concentration of adsorbate was determined by AAS-FA. The adsorption capacities were calculated from the measured results and were constructed adsorption isotherms. The adsorption of Pb(II) onto kaolinite, composite of kaolinite/TiO2 and TiO2 particles were studied by batch procedure. The results show that the Freundlich isotherm describes the adsorption Pb(II) onto kaolinite, composite of kaolinite/TiO2 and TiO2 photocomposite. The adsorption capacity of composite of kaolinite/TiO2 and TiO2 particles are similar but lower
