Original language description
The chapter focusses on a special group of nanofiller clays, where original natural minerals are enhanced with other matter – inorganic or organic – decorating the surface. To add special properties to the clay nanolayer, we can proceed with intercalation, grafting, or decoration of the inner or outer surface of the silicate layer. In this chapter, clay silicate layers are considered as support for other species. The chapter focuses on metals and metal oxides decorated on the clay dedicated for medical/sanitary, catalytic, and energy harvesting/storage applications. The content of this chapter will include a summary of recently studied particles (metals and metal oxides) in R&D and in the commercial sphere; methods of preparation, and technologies for successful modification/decoration; crucial parameters, and suitable techniques for evaluation; forecasts for these applications.
