PHOTOCATALYTIC DECOMPOSITION OF N2O OVER S MODIFIED GRAPHITIC CARBON NITRID

  • Original language description

příspěvek ve sborníku z konference s názvem 8th International Conference on Chemical Technology, která se konala ve dnech 3 - 5. 5. 2021Graphitic carbon nitride (CN) belongs among a very promising photocatalysts, however, due to several well-known disadvantages, various modifications were tested. One such possibility is the change of precursor in CNpreparation or modification by non-metal elements. In this study, the modification was based on the directsynthesis from thiourea (S-CN) and the second one was the modification of prepared CN from common melaminewith mesyl chloride (Mes-CN). The synthesized photocatalysts were used for the photocatalytic decompositionof nitrous oxide. It was found out that the way of sulfur modification influences the degree of CN condensationand consequently its photocatalytic activity. The S-CN photocatalyst with the highest condensation degreeproved to have the highest photocatalytic activity. Another important finding is connected with the type ofnitrogen groups on the surface of the photocatalyst analyzed by X-ray photoelectron spectrometer (XPS). TheNC2 group has a positive effect on the photocatalytic decomposition of N2O.
