    Air pollution caused by nitrogen oxides (NOx) produced in combustion facilities represents a serious problem for the environment and human health since NOx are responsible for the photochemical smog and the acid rains.Co4MnAlOx mixed oxide prepared by co-precipitation of corresponding nitrates and modified by K using two different methods (surface and bulk promotion) were prepared with the aim to study the effect of preparation method on physical, chemical and catalytic properties in direct NO decomposition. Using AAS, XPS, XRD, N2 physisorption, TEM, TPR H2, TPD CO2, TPD NO and catalytic measurements in steady state, the correlations were made and the comparison between samples modified by K via different procedures was performed. It was found out that preparation method affects catalytic activity, which is connected to the K promoter.
