Three-stage pyrolysis-catalysis of polyolefins over MFI and Ni-MFI catalysts for BTEX and syngas production
Original language description
Poster at EUROPACAT2023. For the pyrolysis-catalysis of polyolefins, a three-stage experimental setup was employed. The influence of catalyst properties, as well as the operating conditions on the product distribution was investigated. The results obtained from the preliminary tests confirmed that in the second stage, the composition of pyrolysis oil (BTEX content) and gas (C1-C4 alkanes and C2-C4 olefins mainly) can be tuned by varying the reactor temperature as well as the acidity of the HZSM-5 catalyst. Furthermore, in the third stage, 20%Ni/silicalite-1 showed appreciable conversions of pyrolysis gas and CO2 to syngas at 700 oC. A detailed and systematic study on the influence of catalyst properties, reactor temperature at different stages and GHSV (in the third stage) on the product distribution is underway and the results will be presented.
