Original language description
The paper presents an idea to use road warning signalisation system to increase road safety for which an independent power source to operate the warning system had to be identified. We tested two energy harvesting methods of harnessing energy of airflow created by a passing vehicle. The methods applied piezoelectric element with a wind flap and small vertical axis wind turbine. To find the proper shapes of wind flap and wind turbine, we used software ANSYS Workbench 18. An electric circuit was developed to efficiently utilise energy harvesting. Finally, we shifted from energy harvesting to an off-grid based system as there was a very low amount of energy in this airflow. The paper described the design of the off-grid system based on practical experience, while keeping in mind its modularity and future upgrades. (C) Technical University of Košice 2019.
