Robust Controllers Design and Performance Investigation of a Vector Controlled Electric Vehicle
Original language description
This work proposes speed regulator besides performance analysis of a vector controlled electric vehicle (EV) operated by a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) under actual load situations while taking driving cycles into account. PID controllers are utilized to regulate EV speed and PMSM current. The speed of the EV is regulated using field oriented control technique (FOC) and it is exposed to actuality conditions by applying an international certified driving cycles that is the Urban Dynamometer Driving cycle (UDDS). The load torque of the traction motor is made variable as a function of vehicle speed and environment parameters. Variations of surface friction coefficient are considered by establishing a linear relation between vehicle speed and ground surface friction coefficient. Simulation results are satisfactory and reveal that the controllers tuning was efficient and that the proposed control scheme and its control technique are robust against parameter variations.
