Original language description
The present study clearly shows that silymarin, an extract from Silybum marianum (L.) and its flavonolignans silybin and dehydrosilybin prevent UVA-induced cell death, DNA damage and development of apoptosis in human keratinocytes. The antioxidant actionof the compounds seems to be involved in protective mechanisms. The results demonstrate the ability of the studied compounds to modify oxidative stress induced by UVA radiation in the skin.

Předkládaná studie ukazuje, že extrakt z Silybum marianum (L.) a jeho flavonolignany silybin a dehydrosilybin jsou schopny ochránit lidské keratinocyty před buněčnou smrtí, DNA poškozením a apoptosou vyvolanými UVA zářením. Protektivní schopnosti těchtolátek jsou dány jejich antioxidačními vlastnostmi.
