Molecular-biology analysis of vancomycin-resistant enterococci isolated from the community in the Czech Republic

  • Original language description

A total number of 5283 rectal swabs were evaluated and 558 Enterococcus sp. strains were isolated during period September 2002 - September 2003. 9 strains (1.6 %) were identified as vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE). Two strains were E. faectium phenotype VanA, one strain was E. faecallis phenotype VanB and six strains were E. casseliflavus phenotype VanC. By PEGE is was obtained 9 different restriction profiles of VRE strains. The Analysis showed closer similarity of E. casseliflavus strains (80-965 %) than similarity between E. faecium strains (41 %).The study was supported by the grant of IGA of the Ministry of Health, Czech Republic, No. NI/7305-3.

Molekulárně biologická analýza vankomycin-rezistentních enterokoků izolovaných z komunitního prostředí České republiky
